Terms & Conditions

The New Forest Packhorse Company (NFPC) have designed the walking experiences with a New Forest pony for people with little or no prior knowledge of horses. Our ponies are generally quiet, well trained and frequently handled. However, whilst the New Forest Packhorse Company takes every precaution to ensure the safety and well being of all guests on our experiences, ponies are living creatures and can be unpredictable.

Safety of the participants and ponies on the experience is of paramount importance to us. A safety briefing will take place before the start of each walk. Please follow any instructions given by your host.

How to Book
Please contact the New Forest Packhorse Company – t: 01725 518410 e: info@newforestpackhorse. co.uk

Gift Vouchers
Any gift vouchers purchased entitle the holder to choose, up to the value stated on them or the walking experience stated on them supplied by the NFPC. Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, and contain an expiry date inside the card. Please book your walking experience session before the expiry date shown. Once the voucher has expired, the walking experience and any related monies are forfeited. Gift Vouchers are non-refundable. However they can be transferred to another person if the recipient is unable to attend. Please notify the New Forest Packhorse Company if you wish to transfer your Gift Voucher.
All gift vouchers carry a unique serial number, which must be quoted when booking. Vouchers must be kept safely and securely and may be required on the day of the walking experience and surrendered to the host or alternatively sent to the company if requested to secure the booking. We recommend sending vouchers by registered post, as they are not replaceable if lost. We cannot accept responsibility for any loss you may incur as a result of theft, impersonation or identity fraud.

The placing of an order for a walking experience constitutes your acceptance of NFPC Terms & Conditions of trading. We reserve the right to decline to process an order for any reason whatsoever. Payment must be made at the time of booking. By purchasing or redeeming a NFPC walking experience or gift voucher you acknowledge that experiences are dependent on certain factors beyond our control and agree that the NFPC is not liable for the cancellation, postponement or alteration of any experience for reasons beyond its reasonable control (including but not limited to weather-related reasons, equine illness, location changes or otherwise). Please note that walking experiences and other products are subject to change without notice. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Once your walking experience has been confirmed you will receive a booking confirmation with all the details that you will need on the day, including meeting time, location and directions.

Cancellation by NFPC
If the NFPC cancels a walking experience either before or on the day of the event due to circumstances beyond our control we will arrange an alternative date by mutual agreement.
NFPC cannot be held liable for any costs including (but not limited to) travel expenses or pre-booked accommodation costs incurred by the participant in the event of a cancellation and NFPC’s total liability for any claim in connection with a walking experience shall be limited to the price paid for the experience.

Cancellation by Participants
Once you make a booking with the NFPC you are bound by our terms and conditions. A minimum of seven days notice is required to alter or cancel a booking. We regret that any alterations or cancellations notified after this time will result in forfeit of the event and any related monies.

Experience descriptions, formats and durations
Packhorse walking experience descriptions, format and timings given on the NFPC website and in any other literature are only intended to present a general idea of the experience, and shall not be considered binding. In particular, photographs may be for illustrative purposes only and the actual content of the walking experience may differ. We cannot be held responsible for descriptions by or on any third party web sites or literature.

Our walks and experiences are arranged by mutual convenience. However, some packhorse walking experiences could be “open” days (such as NFNPA Walking Festival) meaning that other members of the public could be taking part too. This could mean taking your turn with other members of the public. Walking experiences may occasionally be withdrawn for reasons outside of our control, and NFPC cannot be held liable for any costs incurred as a result of this. However, should this occur you will be offered an alternative date by mutual agreement.

The walking experiences are organised by mutual arrangement, from March to October, subject to availability. To avoid disappointment we recommend that participants book well in advance, at least 6-8 weeks for the majority of walking experiences. During peak periods it may be necessary to allow a longer notice period although NFPC may occasionally be able to fit in a booking at short notice. We recommend gift voucher holders to book as early as possible as you must have undertaken your walking experience before the expiry date printed on the front of your voucher. We strongly advise that you do not make any travel, accommodation or other arrangements until you have received confirmation of your booking.

Problems on the day
We welcome your feedback on all of our walks. If you encounter a problem on the day, please immediately bring it to the attention of the host so that they have a chance to put matters right. If you have attempted resolution but the problem was not resolved on the day, please write to us within a week of your walking experience.

Participants must be aged 11 years or over to attend our packhorse walking experiences. A full paying adult must accompany children under the age of 16 years old. (Younger children prefer a ‘meet-and-greet’, which we would be happy to arrange.)
Under no circumstances are the ponies to be ridden. Guests attempting to climb onto or sit on any pony will be asked to leave the experience.
Do not hand-feed the ponies as it teaches them to bite.
Well-behaved dogs on leads may be permitted on our packhorse walks/experiences but only with prior agreement.

Additional guests/Spectators
Only participants booked on the experience may attend. No other guests or spectators are permitted.

Prices and Locations
We reserve the right to vary the prices of the walking experiences that we offer. NFPC walking experience prices may differ from the value of previously issued gift vouchers. Locations are correct at the time of booking but may change at short notice for reasons beyond our control.

The NFPC is not VAT registered.

The validity period of most gift vouchers may be extended once only at NFPC’s absolute discretion for a period of 3 months upon payment of a £15 administration fee. If the price of your chosen experience has increased, you will have to pay the difference between the new price and your gift voucher.

Experience vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash.

A minimum of seven days notice is required to alter or cancel a booking. We regret that any alterations or cancellations notified after this time will result in forfeit of the event and any related monies. (If the event has to be cancelled by the New Forest Packhorse Company, a mutually suitable alternative date will be found).
The cost of returning your experience voucher for exchange or refund will not be borne by NFPC and we strongly recommend that a secure delivery service such as Royal Mail Special Delivery is used as Vouchers cannot be exchanged or refunded until they are received by us.

Liability Cover
